The Irish Association of Investment Managers (IAIM) is launching a Transition Year (TY) Academy with a program designed for students across the country, with a particular focus on young people from disadvantaged areas.
The association’s Diversity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee is partnering with Susan Hayes Culleton, Founder and Managing Director of Savvy Teens Academy, to launch the IAIM TY Programme. The initiative is designed to introduce students—who might not yet be aware of asset management—to the breadth of exciting careers, the impact they can have working in the industry, and how to get started.
Participants will hear directly from IAIM member companies about their work and experiences in the sector.

Michael D’Arcy on the Importance of Diversity and Opportunity
Michael D’Arcy, Chief Executive of IAIM, emphasized the importance of creating a more diverse and inclusive asset management industry.
“Creating a more diverse asset management industry is a core pillar of our association,” he said. “This TY Programme is designed to help students, particularly those from more disadvantaged parts of Ireland, discover the opportunities open to them in our industry—of which there are many and growing.”
He added: “In total, asset managers now account for 3,604 full-time employees, and assets managed from Ireland have increased by 58% in the past five years. This is an industry of growing national importance and one which offers a wide variety of local and international opportunities.
“We want to help young people across Ireland, whatever their background, beliefs, or identity, to become aware of these opportunities and understand the importance of diversity in this expanding sector, which looks after people’s money from all around the world.”
Growth of the Irish Asset Management Industry
The Irish Association of Investment Managers has doubled its membership in the past two years and increased the assets it manages by €700 billion—from $1.6 trillion to €2.3 trillion.
